Artists, kinds of art, and styles
So, today I bring you another personal reflection on artists and their styles.
Again, I am most of all, looking forward to hear people's opinions on this matter. So, leave a comment and express your points of view on this matter.
As always, whenever I write a new journal to either manifest, complain, or simply give an opinion, it's usually triggered by something that I took notice earlier. This time, it was people completely changing their art style or their objectives, in other to please others.
While this may seem exagerated just by the sheer fact that it is just me saying so, most of you will agree that at a given point, some artist you watched just stopped posting the art that you loved, and stopped posting other kinds of things. And I'm not talking about broadening your horizons, that is an enriching experience for every artist. I'm referring in particular to cutting back completely on your older objectives of work.
I could refer an endless list of possible motives for an artist to do so. They usually say it themselves, whether they personally believe it or not. "Why am I not getting much attention?", "Is my current art not good enough for people?", "Is it a problem to be a wolf artist?". Yes, I bet you too hear this A LOT.
My question to those artists, and to people who read this journal is: Are you here to please others and get attention, or are you here to please yourself? What was the motive that made you get into making art (of any kind) in the first place? Are you ashamed of your art? If art is a reflection of the artist, should you be ashamed of yourself?
Let's read what people have to say on this matter.
I personally believe that the purpose of making art, is me feeling good about it, and liking it. Regardless of how many watchers I have, I know these people like my art for what it is. I bet some of them would probably be disappointed if from one moment to the other, I just started drawing humans, cars, landscapes, whatever. And I like my art for what it is: It's my accomplishment, not anyone else's.
